When we were driving through Lamar Valley we came across thousands of bison. We literally watched them for over an hour. Then they started walking in the street. It was really fun to have them so close for such a long period of time. They are interesting animals. You think they move slow - but when agitated, they can run up to 30mph.
Cameron is chopping the firewood that he and Scott went and found in the dead zone of Yellowstone. We always get more wood than we need. But it is awesome looking at our great stack of wood, which we always share with others around us when they need some wood.
The woodpile....
We saw over 10 bears in Yellowstone this year. This particular bear we spotted just 10 feet from our car on the day we were leaving. We got up at 5:30 in the morning and drove through Hayden Valley hoping to see lots of wildlife. It was misty over the river and looked very beautiful, but we didn't see lots of animals. We continued up towards Mt. Washburn and were looking down into this valley where we had seen a bear the previous day. Scott all of a sudden said, "Look out the other window." And here was this bear, just a few feet away. We watched him for a good half hour before we turned around and headed home.
We are waiting for Old Faithful to erupt. We have to go see this every year. We go to the same place and take some pictures. Then as soon as it erupts we leave. This year we hiked around the loop that is behind Old Faithful.Corie and Cameron in front of Old Faithful.
