Yellowstone 2013

Our first vacation while Cameron has been on his mission.  We took Grandma Faye with us.  She sat up in the front of the car with Scott.  Corie and Cadie rode in the middle seat, while I sat in the way back.  It was nice to be able to just stretch out and lay down and watch the scenery pass by.

We left as soon as Scott finished his day shift at Kennecott.  We had everything pretty much packed before he got home.  It was the first time that we drove the Tahoe with the trailor.  Scott said that it was soooo nice.  We did the normal drive to Alpine Junction, Wyoming.  Pulled into the truck stop and slept for the night.

Even though this picture is after our trip, when Scott was emptying everything out,
it still is a great picture of the tahoe and the trailor.

Of course we made camp in Bridge Bay, that is where we have stayed the past 25 years.  Scott really missed that Cameron wasn't there.  He had to put the tent up by himself.  Corie and Cadie slept in the tent while we were there.  I think they really had a great time doing that, even though the first night was about 35 degrees outside.

We pretty much watched as Scott did all the work.

We did all the normal things that we always do.  We stopped at La Hardy Falls; climbed the stairs down to the Grand Canyon and the falls; walked around Old Faithful; and drove through Hayden and Lamar Valleys.

We saw this bear on our way to Tower.  There was lots of road construction.  So we turned around, and this was the gem we saw.  Only a few feet away from us, on the other side of the road.  He must have found something sweet to eat on the road.

We didn't see lots of bison, but here are a few.

We saw 3 huge elk.  We were only about 15 feet away from them.  They were only concerned about eating.  We were so close that you could see the velvet on their antlers.

Corie and I were walking around Mammoth, while the others were just relaxing. We had to imitate some other people that we saw doing this same thing.  There were a bunch of momma elk and their calves just relaxing in this little grassy area.

Cadie was such a trooper, she helped Scott put the tent away.
She takes her camping seriously...
